Can A Felon Vote In Delaware?

Individuals convicted of a felony are ineligible to vote while in prison, on parole, or on probation. Most ex-offenders can regain the right to vote immediately after completion of their full sentence. Except for people convicted of certain felonies–including murder, manslaughter, bribery or public corruption, and sex offenses are barred from voting unless they receive a formal pardon from the governor. As of July 2016, it is not necessary to have paid all fines, fees, and restitution in order to register.

Felon Voting Rights Delaware

People with felony convictions, who live in Delaware, will have their voting rights restored after they complete their sentence and pay all associated legal fines and fees. However, that being said, some felons cannot permanently restore their rights.
If the felony involves the crimes of murder, bribery, manslaughter, a sex offense or public corruption, a formal pardon from the Governor must be issued for electoral eligibility.

How Can A Felon in Delaware Restore Their Voting Rights

If you have been convicted of murder, manslaughter, bribery, public corruption, or sex offenses then you need to file for a pardon from the Governor’s office if you wish to reinstate your rights.
If you aren’t in prison, on parole, or on probation, and haven’t been convicted of any of the crimes above, then you are free to register to vote. You can register online or via the mail through the Department of Elections.
