The franchise boasts of having 539 locations and creating employment to over 6000 people. The current president and CEO is Phil Greifeld. It was originally known as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers. The company’s name was changed to Captain D’s Seafood in 1974 to focus more exclusively on its classic fish and chips, shrimp and side dishes. In the seventy’s, the company grew and added programs like the Kids’ Birthday Club and children’s comic books. In 2011, Captain D’s acquired Grandy’s.
