Praxair is a worldwide corporation that specializes in the production of industrial gases. It was formed in 1907 by Carl von Linde as the Linde Air Products Company. Ten years later, it combined with four other companies to become the Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation while retaining its own seperate identity. The company was spun off into a subsidiary named Union Carbide Industrial Gases Inc. in 1992, and was renamed as Praxair when it became an independent business in 1995. The company merged with Linde AG in 2018 to become Linde pic. Praxair was the first company in the United States to produce and distribute cryogenically seperated oxygen for commercial use.
