Individuals in prison for a felony conviction are ineligible to vote. Voting rights are automatically restored upon release from prison. People on parole or probation can vote.

If a felon is sentenced and serving time in prison, they cannot vote from the time of the issuance of the sentence until they are officially discharged. However, you can vote if your sentence has been suspended or you are on parole. If you are in jail for pre-trial detention in relation to a misdemeanor, you are able to vote by absentee ballot.

How Can A Felon in New Hampshire Restore Their Voting Rights

If you’re out of prison and meet the requirements below then all you need to do is register to vote.
You are eligible to vote in New Hampshire if you:
Are a U.S citizen
Are at least 18 years old by Election Day
Are domiciled in New Hampshire town or ward in which you seek to vote
In order to complete your voter registration in New Hampshire, you will need to prove age, domicile and citizenship. Accepted IDs include:
Valid Vehicle Registration
Valid Student ID
Certificate of Vehicle Ownership
Valid ID issued by another state
Birth Certificate
Valid non-driver’s ID
Valid US Passport
Valid issued ID
Valid Military ID
Valid Driver’s License except one issued to an individual that is not a United States citizen
A signed, Challenged Voter Registration Affidavit
Valid Federal issued ID
Note: You may use any combination of one or more of these IDs provided they establish proof of Age, Domicile and Citizenship.
Voting In-Person
If you are registered to vote in New Hampshire, you are required to show ID to vote; or, you may instead sign an affidavit or similar document. Accepted forms of ID include:
Valid New Hampshire Voter ID Card with Photo
Valid US Passport
Valid Military ID
Valid New Hampshire Driver’s License
Valid Student ID
Out of State Driver’s License or Non-driver ID
Valid New Hampshire Non-driver’s ID
Valid Photo ID
Personal Acquaintance/Known by Local Election Official
